Haven Therapy
Counselling and Psychotherapy Services
At Haven Therapy, I offer individual counselling and psychotherapy for adults in Fitzroy and across Melbourne via telehealth. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, or simply feeling like something isn't right, I'm here to help you understand your emotions and find a way forward.
All sessions are tailored to your individual needs — there is no one-size-fits-all approach here.
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)
My primary approach is Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) — an evidence-based therapy that helps you connect with, understand and work through your emotions rather than suppress or avoid them.
Emotions are not the enemy. They carry important information about what we need. EFT helps you access that information, process painful feelings, and create lasting emotional change.
EFT is particularly effective for:
- Anxiety and worry
- Depression and low mood
- Trauma and PTSD
- Relationship difficulties
- Low self-esteem and self-criticism
- Grief and loss
What I help with
Anxiety - Anxiety can show up as constant worry, panic, overthinking, or a feeling that something bad is about to happen. Therapy can help you understand what your anxiety is telling you and develop healthier ways of responding to it.
Depression - Depression is more than just feeling sad. It can leave you feeling empty, exhausted, and disconnected from life. Together we explore the emotional roots of your depression and work toward reconnecting with what matters to you.
Trauma - Traumatic experiences — whether recent or from your past — can have a lasting impact on how you feel, think and relate to others. I offer a safe, paced environment to process difficult experiences and begin healing.
Stress - Modern life can be relentless. Whether it's work pressure, relationship strain, or simply too much going on, therapy can help you identify your limits, reconnect with your needs, and find more sustainable ways of living.
Anger - Anger is often a signal that something important to us has been threatened or ignored. Rather than suppressing it, we explore what your anger is telling you and how to express it in ways that serve you.
Low Self-Esteem & Self-Criticism - Many people carry a harsh inner critic that holds them back from living fully. Therapy helps you develop a kinder, more compassionate relationship with yourself.
Life Transitions - Changing careers, ending relationships, moving cities, becoming a parent, losing a loved one — big life changes can be disorienting even when they're positive. Therapy offers support and clarity during uncertain times.
Relationship Difficulties - Whether it's conflict, communication breakdown, or patterns that keep repeating, therapy can help you understand your role in relationships and develop more fulfilling connections with others.
Childhood Trauma & Neglect - Early experiences shape how we see ourselves and the world. If your childhood was painful, confusing or unsafe, therapy can help you make sense of those experiences and reduce their hold on your present life.
Addiction & Substance Use - Addictive behaviours often develop as a way of coping with difficult emotions. I offer a non-judgmental space to explore what drives these patterns and work toward greater freedom and choice.
Search for Meaning - Sometimes people come to therapy not in crisis, but with a deeper sense that something is missing. Questions about identity, purpose and direction are valid and important — and therapy is a great place to explore them.
How we work together
Initial consultation — A free 15-minute phone call to answer your questions and see if we're a good fit.
First session — I take time to understand what's brought you to therapy, your background, and what you're hoping to achieve. The pace is always led by you.
Ongoing sessions — 50-minute sessions, in-person in Fitzroy or via telehealth. Frequency is flexible — most clients start weekly and adjust as they progress.
No fixed timeline — Some people benefit from a focused short-term block of sessions. Others prefer longer-term support. We'll regularly review how things are going together.
Fees
$150 per 50-minute session - I believe everyone should have access to quality mental health care.
Low-fee sessions are available for eligible clients — please get in touch to discuss.
Please note that Medicare rebates are not currently accepted.
In-person and online sessions
In-person - I see clients face-to-face in Fitzroy, inner north Melbourne.
Telehealth - Online sessions are available via video call for clients across Melbourne and throughout Australia. Online therapy is just as effective as in-person for most concerns — and far more convenient for many people.
