    About Therapy

What is the difference between a counsellor and a psychotherapist?

Counsellors typically focus on specific issues and shorter-term support and emotional regulation, while psychotherapists work more deeply with long-standing emotional patterns and personal history. Lukas Wooller is qualified in both, allowing him to tailor the depth and style of therapy to what you need.

    What is Emotion-Focused Therapy?

Emotion-Focused Therapy is an evidence based approach that helps you understand, accept and work with your emotions rather than avoid them. It is based on the idea that emotions carry important information about what we need - EFT helps you access and use that information to heal and grow. It is particularly effective for anxiety, depression, trauma and relationship difficulties.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

If you're feeling stuck, anxious, low or overwhelmed, or you've a sense that something just isn't right - therapy can help. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from counselling. Many people seek therapy to better understand themselves, improve relationships, or navigate a difficult period of life.

How is psychotherapy different from talking to a friend?

A therapist offers something different from a friendship - a professionally trained, confidential, non-judgemental space entirely focused on you. Lukas is trained to notice patterns, ask the right questions, and guide you toward insight and change in a way that friends, however well-meaning, are not equipped to do.
